Kentucky Derby Mint Julep Recipe

The Early Times Mint Julep Recipe


•2 cups sugar

•2 cups water

•Sprigs of fresh mint

•Crushed ice

•Early Times Kentucky Whisky

•Silver Julep Cups

Make a simple syrup by boiling sugar and water together for five minutes. Cool and place in a covered container with six or eight sprigs of fresh mint, then refrigerate overnight. Make one julep at a time by filling a julep cup with crushed ice, adding one tablespoon mint syrup and two ounces of Early Times Kentucky Whisky. Stir rapidly with a spoon to frost the outside of the cup. Garnish with a sprig of fresh mint.

No Outside Alcohol Allowed During Entertainment Hours

We have been having a problem of late with guests bringing in their own alcohol.  This is strictly illegal and violaters will be removed and reported to the police.  Petar's provides live entertainment and guests are welcome to enjoy this entertainment, but remember, it is not free for us.  We pay premium dollars to hire entertainers and we have the expectation of offsetting this expense by selling drink and food. We do not necessarily mean "alcoholic" drink, but if you are taking up a space during the music hour you either have to pay a cover charge or buy something.  It's only fair...we're all struggling to survive.

The patio is open!

It's so pleasant to sit in Petar's patio and watch the world go by.  I love the shade the ivy offers and it's fun to watch the birds skitter in and out of the trellis.  I can't wait for more warm spring days.

A more personal insight into Petar's

Everybody's got the blogging bug so here we're throwing our hat into the ring too. Spring is nudging it's way in although it's been having a rough start. Easter was rainy and dreary, but the temperature is on the rise this week and it's time to get out and plant. It's too late to plant tulips or daffodils for this year so I hope you enjoy these.
